Salaam! Today I realized that it is the last day of Ramadan. I have to say that it is bittersweet. Although I will like being able to eat when I want to, I am going to miss a lot. Did you ever notice that during Ramadan everyone is so much more religious and conscious about what is going on around them? During Ramadan we have this motivation to do better, to be better, to love each other, and to help others. Alhumdulillah it is such a beautiful thing to see. Even with all the murder and war going on right now, we come together and become one Ummah and help people who don’t have what we are so fortunate to have. We protest, raise money, volunteer, make dua’a and more hoping that it will at least slightly end their suffering. I wish it was like that all the time though and unfortunately it isn’t. We will go back to our normal lives after all this and forget about the days when we felt like the hungry people all over the world. We will be wasteful, ungrateful, and forgetful. Let’s try to make our post Ramadan count and try our best to be better Muslims every day of the year, not just thirty days. So here’s my challenge to you: try and do dhikr at least once a day. Say “SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi’ meaning, ‘Glory to Allah and praise Him’ 100 times a day. Always remember Allah for everything you do. Ask for forgiveness when you do something that would displease Allah. Make all five of your prayers every day and as punctual as you can. Pray outside if you need to, in your car, in an empty classroom wherever. The world is your musallah! If you created a list of challenges and you didnt complete them, do just end it because Ramadan is over, try to finish them. Try to learn at least one surah a month, fast on the 15th day of every month to remember the less fortunate. And give. If you see a hungry homeless person, do not ignore them or apologize because you don’t have or want to give cash. Take them into a fast food restaurant or grocery store and by them something to eat. Just a thought (:
Much love from yours truly!
